Final Project Bite

For my project I’m writing a chapter on the Fang Shi. There isn’t a ton of information on them so what I’m going to do is start off focused on the Fang Shi and then I’m going to zoom out and talk about what underlying factors led to them being successful. I want to talk about how they were able to abuse how much weight people placed on having a vast knowledge. I also want to talk about their relationship with the Emperor and the Confucian scholars. I want the readers to be able to understand why they were successful in that time frame because in the modern day it seems shocking that something like this would just work because these people were obviously just early con-men and nowadays people are extremely wary about being scammed or taken advantage of, so it’s just interesting how this was able to work.
