Idea for the final

For my final I’d really like to go further in depth on the Fang Shi. I find their whole existence really interesting, and how when you take a step back and look at them they’re really just con-men of their time period. I find all the different ways that they maintained/gained influence through deception to be interesting. How knowledgeable an individual was gave them power, and the Fang Shi completely abused this idea for personal benefit. The fact that no one really ever doubted them is also just ridiculous to me and I want to see if I can explore that piece further just considering how today everyone questions everything they see and fact check everything it just seems wrong that no one really did that (to the extent that they could of course).
